NEWSPAPER HOCKEY!

I am not sure if I made this up or not - But I recall this activity from when I was a youth. (Believe it or not - it was NOT that long ago - despite what my YW say!) Newspaper Hockey (Trademark by Sis. JK.Oliva) is a hockey game all out of newspaper. First we split into two teams then every team gets a bucket of newspaper and a few rolls of tape. They have about 15 min to create a Hockey Stick for each member. Then using a puck made out of all the bags the newspaper came in and some tape - we play news paper hockey. We had goals set up on each end and built some side walls with interlocking chairs! The kiddos had a blast! Some of the rules where - only 4 players on the floor at a time plus the goalie, goalie had to stay on their knees, if you needed to "Repair" your hockey stick or needed a drink you could "sub out" with one of the other players. There was a penalty box of a minute if you touched the puck with your hands or your hit another player above the waist. Overall it was a great success - Penalty Box helped.

I don't remember newspaper hockey, but I remember Broom hockey which is equally as hard. I just hated picking up all the broom bristles when we were done. looks like fun though!

What a cool idea! Our ward can't seem to do mass sports during joint activities~we don't have enough involvement. You have an awesome blog!
