Christmas 2009
Another year is gone. This year seems to have gone by faster than last year! We’ve had lots of fun and exciting things happen this year and yet again we wanted to update all our loved ones.
Gabriel - Wow 09’ has flown by. It seems like the Christmas season was just here but also that it can’t come soon enough. I love this time of year when people are more joyous and kind. We were able to take a couple of trips this year including one to Disney World. Thanks again to the King Family for that wonderful anniversary gift. We recently went camping at a beautiful place near Fredericksburg called Enchanted Rock State Park. I was able to show off my scoutmaster skills, which consist of making sure we have plenty of firewood and lighter fluid. I was able to take off a couple of weeks this summer for Boy Scout Camp and one week to help out at YW Camp. Its always a little nuts in our house in the summer, but looking back it was fun. Since Jennifer has more time off we have more time to spend together along with us being able to rearrange the house, closets, office, etc. .several times. We recently had the opportunity to host a foreign exchange student Hannah from Korea. She will be staying with us until next July, so Jennifer and I are trying to give her the American, well South Texas experience. The electrical business has been good this year and we are always looking forward to what opportunities will come next year.
Jennifer - As the year flew by we’ve had some memorable events. At church I am still serving as the Young Women’s President and Gabe is still Scoutmaster, which always brings excitement. We really enjoy working with the youth together. January we celebrated our one year anniversary and thanks to some good friends were able to go to Disney World! In March I talked Gabe into letting us get a playmate for Loukah, our pup. So along came Abigail, Abbi for short! In May, I was able to go to Utah for some fun. I attended a friends wedding in the new Draper Temple, I cheered my friend on as she graduated from the University of Utah, Meet up with a friend who was expecting her first little one and I was able to see my BFF, Amber and her hubby as he was getting ready to go to Iraq. It was a very fun and full packed trip. The summer brought the usual chaos with Scout Camp and YW Camp. After the summer I also left my job at Dr. Dugan’s office to spend more time at home with my family and work on our home business. The first thing in my free time was go see my friend Amber. We took a road trip from her home in Las Vegas to our old home in New Mexico. What an adventure. We saw the Grand Canyon and much much much more. With me being home more we were able to add another family member. We applied to host a foreign exchange student and quickly had Choi Hanseul “Hannah” move in with us. We have loved having Hannah be a part of the family. Although we had to delay her move in a week or so because Gabe and I were struck with the Swine Flu! We were out for about two weeks. I even grew a tail and a snout! Now that were all better and so thankful for our health the year has quickly come to an end.
Hannah - I became a kind of a part of Oliva family last middle of September. It was my second time to be together with American family. I wanted to experience lots of things which I can’t do in Korea. But I couldn’t experience anything, so meeting with Oliva’s were pretty excited me. And I’m pleased with my new life with Oliva’s. I like my new family, and new school. It’s quite different from Korea, but I came here to experience that! When I was with previous lady, I feel worse than Korea. I regret about coming to USA. But now, I’m glad that I’m in here. Though Corpus Christi is not smaller than I expected. (EF, my exchange student company, said Corpus is urban!) I’m glad I didn’t have horse or pig as pets! (Lots of exchange students in rural states have horses, pigs as their host family’s pet). It’s actually my first time to write this kind of Christmas card. I usually write simple sentences saying ‘merry Christmas~’ to my close friends. I’m pretty excited about sending this Christmas letter to my exchange students in USA. I hope they are having a wonderful year! At this time last year, I was in school with my friends ending our middle school year. Though we went to another high school, I hope my BFF is having a happy Christmas. When I first went to America, I called my BFF named Seo-young Kim every day. She suspected that I’m in another continent. I miss my all Korean friends and my camp friends so much. Have a perfect Christmas in America, and Merry Christmas! 행복한 성탄절 되세요!
We wish you and all your loved ones a Merry Merry Christmas and a wonderful and love filled new years!
With Love,
Gabriel, Jennifer, Hannah, Loukah & Abigail
