Christmas 2008
First Christmas as Mr. & Mrs. Oliva

This year has flown by for us. We have had so much fun spending this year together as husband and wife, and have come to truly love the blessings of marriage. We wanted to take a moment at this special time of the year and update you with our crazy yet wonderful times.

Mr. - This year has been a great one. After marrying my beautiful wife and best friend it seems my life is moving faster than I can keep up with. We are blessed to live in a beautiful house built in the late 20’s about two blocks from the ocean. My dad remodeled it shortly before we moved in and modernized the kitchen, closets, electrical, etc. Jennifer and I are both sharing an office which never seems quite big enough no matter how much we organize it. Even with the down economy, the electrical business is still going good. I was called to be the Scoutmaster in February and have had the opportunity to camp at least once a month while taking off two weeks in the summer for Girls Camp and Scout camp. It is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and get to know the youth. They are a great bunch of kids and I’m convinced being the scoutmaster is one of the most fun callings in the church. Since my wife is the Young Women’s president we both have the opportunity to plan our schedules around each other so works out well. These past few months have just flown by with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas almost seeming to overlap each other. I am looking forward to the New Year and for all the great things ahead.

Mrs. - This was a big year for me, the first year in a long time that I have not moved! We officially got married January 4th in the San Antonio Temple. We took a wonderful honeymoon to the mountains of Georgia, where we had our own cabin with a hot tub, fire place, and little kitchen. We saw beautiful waterfalls and had perfect first week and Mr. & Mrs. After the wedding we moved into our house, I have had a blast decorating, organizing, and creating a home. With the move we had to switch to a new ward at church, it took some getting used to for me, but as soon as we moved in I was called as the Young Women’s President. I have enjoyed working with the youth. They are so much fun and I love them so much. April brought a new member in our home! I talked Gabe into letting me get a puppy. Through a common customer at the bank we received Loukah, our black lab puppy. In May I had an opportunity to leave the Bank, where I was a teller, and I took a job at an ophthalmologist’s office, right down the street from our home. The job has come with many blessings including not having to work late on Wednesdays or weekends when I spend time with the young women and Gabe. As the summer came, I enjoyed all the things which come with being in Young Women’s – Girls Camp. We had a blast, what was the best part is that Gabriel came with us as a priesthood member. September brought the annual hurricane scare to us down here by the coast. We got to experience boarding up the house for Hurricane Ike, he was close, but left us dry. Which we were very thankful for! In October we took a mini vacation and spent a long weekend going to a “Western Days” Fair. Gabriel enjoyed his first parade and I received 3rd place in a mechanical bull riding contest. I received a very big trophy and an even bigger bruise. Now its December, I cannot believe how fast this all went by. I am so blessed.

We want to wish you the best of times as you celebrate this special season with your families. We are so thankful for all of you in our lives. We loving seeing those of you that we get to see and we miss those of you that live farther away.
With Love Mr. & Mrs. Oliva
